Add “made of cubes aesthetic” and you got another annoying trend.
the worst part is when a game is made out of cubes or even squares in a 2D game and they’re like “well it’s retro like NES/SNES”
because it never fucking looks like an 8-bit game because the resolution is 20 times higher and it has way too many colors, and it never looks like a 16-bit game because SNES games weren’t made out of fucking big-ass squares and didn’t have tiny-ass sprites
also “retro pixel” games (or art pieces) where the characters have fat bodies and long, 1 pixel thick limbs
i’m not describing the thing very well, but it looks awful and nothing like any olden days game i’ve ever seen
(although, i should say to your original post that there are some really incredibly excellent games that use procedural generation)
