it is once again time for the world’s greatest obscure videogames review blog to be updated, and this week’s subject is a game that got me hooked, despite looking awful and not being very exciting at all! go and read about it~!

and please show your support by reblogging this post and maybe also subscribing on patreon, for early access to new posts, lots more screenshots of the games i cover, and various other nice exclusive extras :D

you should use soul calibur vi to make your dnd cahracters, it’d be cool

FINALLY getting around to watching Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger.

THIS SHOW IS AMAZING!

image

It is only the second series I can think of NOT set on Earth (the other being Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger) so they can go wild with the World-Building.

image

Yeah, it’s kinda-sorta based on Earth in a vague sense geographically and the name sounds a like like the Japanese word for Earth but this is clearly another planet. And hey, if Star Trek can have a planet that’s just a copy of Earth (from the episode Miri), then Super Sentai can have this place.

I love the Five Kingdoms and there super specialized development. I love their Rulers and their weird quirks. I love the bug-themed mecha and the political machinations of the Kingdoms.

And I adore the Royal Rainment Suits!

But above all else, OMG do I love Rita/Papillon-Ohger!

OUR FIRST NON-BINARY SUPER SENTAI HERO!

This series is giving us so much good stuff and I am only up to episode 7. I know some spoilers from later but please, don’t give me more. This is the kind of inventive series that plays with the tropes of Sentai, mixes them up and gives us something fresh and fun without deconstructing the genre.

It’s just good, wonderful fun and I need that right now!

i have watched up to 17, and it continues to be excellent
